OCQ(V) - TT (Tuberculin Testing)
- Essential background information relating to TB, relevant to the responsibilities and role of an OV undertaking TB testing of cattle and other species.
- Detailed procedural training related to TB testing with specific reference to the APHA OV Instructions for TB and SOPs, including hygiene, biosecurity and health and safety requirements.
- Clarification of the legal and professional responsibilities of all vets in relation to compliance with the 10 Principles of Certification, avoidance of conflicts of interest, protection of animal welfare and the management of suspect Notifiable Disease.
- Familiarisation with Defra*, APHA and other websites providing relevant information to refresh knowledge.
*Defra, APHA, Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), the Scottish Government, whichever is/are appropriate to the area in which you are working.
Before applying for OCQ(V) - TT training you are required to have completed the OCQ(V) - ES.
Once you have completed the initial OCQ(V) - TT, you will be required to undergo an assessment of your TB testing knowledge and practical skills, and once you have successfully achieved the full OV qualification and approval, to undergo revalidation every four years.
